Results Confirm Bull & Bush Brews the Best Beer in Colorado

Denver Brewery Wins Best in Show and Five other Awards in Colorado State Fair Craft Beer Competition

Brewers from the Bull & Bush, a Denver favorite pub and brewery, claimed six awards at the Craft Beer Competition hosted by the Colorado State Fair over the weekend.

A panel of qualified judges evaluated beers in a line-up of standout craft breweries from around the country. Gold, silver and bronze awards in 28 beer-style categories were presented during the 2010 Foam Fest at the State Fair on August 28th. In addition, two special awards were given, The John Hanley Memorial Award commemorating the late Colorado brewing legend, and the “Best in Show” award, both won by the Bull & Bush Brewery.

“We’re still flying high and celebrating winning Gold at the World Beer Cup in Chicago a few months ago,” said Bull & Bush Master Brewer, Gabe Moline. “As honored as we are to win “best in show” again, it is very gratifying to have won the John Hanley Memorial award three times now, for Royal Oil, Legend of the Liquid Brain Imperial Stout and this year, with the Tank Town Brown.”

As indicated on the official results sheet from the state fair, the Bull & Bush shout outs from the weekend include:

  • Gold in the English Style IPA category for the MAN BEER, which has accumulated an impressive list of accolades since this “beer you’ve been practicing for” first started crushing palates in 1999.
  • Gold and Silver in the Wood Aged Beer category for Tank Town Brown and Royal Oil. The John Hanley Memorial award also went to Tank Town Brown.
  • Gold in the Northern English Style Brown category for Big Ben Brown Ale. A favorite since the brewery tapped its first batch in 1997, Big Ben also won “Best in Show”, taking the top prize for the entire competition.

The Bull & Bush brewers have also submitted several brews to compete in the upcoming Great American Beer Festival in Denver, September 16-18. Visit their booth at the Colorado Convention Center during the premier US beer fest or come by the Bull & Bush and taste the award winning beer paired with delicious pub style dishes while enjoying the prefect Colorado weather from the patio.

“Colorado is home to many of the best craft brewing operations in the world and Gabe’s creative genius keeps us competing at that level every year,” said Bull & Bush owner, Erik Peterson. “We’re looking forward to introducing many more surprises and special brews as we head into the Holiday Season and the celebration of the pub’s 40th year in 2011.”
